Obituary of Leroy N. Hurler

Leroy N. Hurler, 72, passed away January 19, 2019

surrounded by his loving family with “Stair Way to Heaven” playing.

He went on to become an engineer for Mercury Aircraft. He retired

after 40 plus years of service.

He was very active in the community as well, with his biggest

passion, volunteering for the Savona Volunteer Fire Department. He

wore many hats during his service there. During his service, he was

honored to have a fire truck named on his behalf.

His hobbies included the following; motorcycle riding, (that included

being a member of the Red Knights Motorcycle Club), also he enjoyed

camping, fishing (where he was learning the art of creating his own

flies), hunting and golfing. He regularly attended LPGA events in

Corning, NY. He enjoyed restoring cars as well as attending car show

events, regardless of the size of the shows. Most of all, Leroy enjoyed

the time spent with his family and friends. He took great pride in a

well maintained lawn.

Leroy is survived by his loving wife of 48 years Vivian L Hurler;

siblings, Milton (Barb) Zinck and Blanch (Carl) Marshall.

Leroy is also survived by his children; LeRoy (Carolyn) Potter and

Michelle (Ted) Benell  both of Georgetown Kentucky and Christine (Hoss) Dambrowski of Syracuse NY; grandchildren, Lee (Tammy) Winslow, Greg (Angie) Winslow, Shane Hunter, Nichole Clar, Dominic

Dambrowski, Alisha McNamee, Tyler (Alexis) Benell, Colby Benell and Hunter Benell.  Beloved great grandpa to 9 great grandkids; Reznor, Gunnar,Chloe, Clair, Hunter, Chelsea, Kyle, Lexi and Blu.

Services will be held at the Savona Fire Department, 17 McCoy St, Savona, NY 14879, on Friday, January 25, 2019 from 5:00-8:00 pm.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in his name can be made to the Savona Fire Department or Red Knights Motorcycle Club of Bath NY.
