Obituary of James A. Galvin

James A. Galvin, 90, passed away on May 9, 2022. James was born December 8, 1931 in Corning, NY to the late John and Mary (Hogan) Galvin. James was a Physical Education and Driver's Education Teacher at Haverling Central School District in Bath, NY for 30 years, retiring in 1986. James' passion in life was football. In 1986 he was inducted into the Corning-Painted Post Sports Hall of Fame for his participation in the sport of football during his high school years. As an adult he coached football at Haverling High School for many years. As a retiree he watched football on television for many years, cheering on the Buffalo Bills, of course. He was a longtime member of both St. Mary's Catholic Church and the Bath B.P.O.E. 1547. He was predeceased by his wife of 58 years, Geraldine, his brother Thomas and brother Robert and his sister Margaret. He is survived by his five children; Colleen (Chris) Gyr of Angelica, NY, Karen (Randy) Groot of Canandaigua, NY, Patrick (Marianne) Galvin of Bath, NY, Dean Galvin of Lemasol, Cyprus and Diane Weber of Parkland, FL., ten grandchildren, two great grandchildren, his sister Ellen Galvin and several nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be held on Sunday, May 15, 2022 from 2:00-4:00 pm at Fagan's Funeral Home in Bath, NY. A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Mary's Church, Bath, on Monday, May 16, 2022 at 10:00 am with Fr. Patrick Connor as celebrant, followed by a military graveside service at Bath National Cemetery.
