Sherry Ann Oakes Weston, NY - Sherry Ann Oakes, 57, passed away Tuesday, March 8, 2022 at Arnot Hospital in Elmira, NY. Sherry was born at Multnomah Hospital in Portland, Oregon on January 12, 1965 to the late Von D. Hoffman and birth father Congleton Jefrae Oakes. She grew up in Hammondsport, Bath, and Dundee, New York and moved to Mena, Arkansas with her Mother and “Daddy” Bill Hoffman where she lived for over 30 years. Upon the death of her Mother, in December 2020, she moved to Weston New York to live with her brother and hero, Billy Hoffman and his wife Ginger. Sherry worked for several years at the ARC in Mena, Arkansas. She loved spending time with her family, and was an avid lover of dogs of all sizes, especially lap dogs. She captivated everyone she met with her sweet smile, sweet gentle spirit and was accepting of everyone she met. Although she was born with severe cerebral palsy, she was always happy to try and learn new things and excited to visit new places. One of her favorite hobbies was shopping, especially of all things bright and sparkly. She lived a full, happy, vibrant life and was loved and cherished by her family. Predeceasing her were her mother Von D. Hoffman, and grandparents, Chester Shelton, Wilson Hoffman, Isabelle Hoffman and Mozella Hoffman. Sherry is survived by: Grandmother, Eunice Lyons; “Daddy” Bill Hoffman; brothers Billy (Virginia) Hoffman and John Hoffman; sisters Debra (Edward) Read, Becky (C. James) Kittleson, and Vonny Essman. She has a very large extended family of Aunts, Uncles, Nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews. Services will be held at the convenience of the family.
