Samuel J. Barclay, age 92, of Bath, NY died Thursday, July 5, 2012 at the Bath VA. He was born in Wayne, NY March 31, 1920 the son of Jane Weisbauer. He retired as a Computer Analyst after many years of working at Buffalo Savings Bank, where he was responsible for writing the first ATM machine program. He was a staff sergeant in the Army stationed in Hawaii from 1939-1945. He was a life member of the Elma Fire Company in Elma, NY. Mr. Barclay retired to Hammondsport, NY where he loved to hunt and fish on Keuka Lake. He and his wife Millie volunteered at the Glenn H. Curtiss Museum for 17 years. He is survived by his wife of 67 years Millie (Hall) Barclay of Bath; two daughters, Joyce (Mark) Notarnicola and Janet Barclay; grandchildren , Chris Notarnicola , Erin Gillespie and Jess (Marie) Gillespie, many nieces and nephews and beloved friend of the family Gretchen Fierle. A memorial service with military honors will be held on Tuesday July 10th at 11:00 am at the Bath VA Union Chapel. Burial will be in the Bath National Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
