Jean Wilma Fay Shepherd, 83, of Bath, NY, died November 12, 2017 at Steuben Center Nursing Home in Bath, NY.
Jean was born to Wilma and Norman Fay on September 6, 1934. She grew up in Hammondsport, NY, where she graduated from high school. Jean went to work for New York Telephone at the age of 18 in Bath, NY, and retired with 30 years of service. She was then employed by Bath National Bank (now Five Star Bank) for the following 15 years.
Jean was a very active member of the local Business and Professional Women's organization and was a recipient of their "Woman of the Year" award. She was a long-time volunteer for the Bath Ambulance Corp. Additionally, she volunteered her time to Meals on Wheels, and supported the local SPCA, as well as many other local and national charities and fundraisers. She was an active member of the Presbyterian Church of Hammondsport, NY. Jean was always a compassionate and caring friend and generous with her time, often providing others transportation to medical appointments.
Jean is survived by her son, Dean K. Everritt, daughter-in-law Jennifer Everritt, granddaughters Cassidy Everritt (17), and Jamie Everritt (14), of Bloomingdale, NY; her brother, Steve Fay, and sister-in-law Esther Fay, of Dansville, NY. She is preceded in death by her parents, and her spouse, Carlton T. Shepherd.
Calling hours will be held at Fagan's Funeral Home on Thursday, November 16, at 5-7pm. Funeral service will be held at Fagan's Funeral Home in Bath, NY, on Friday, November, 17, at 11am with Kitty Ormbsy officiating. Burial will follow at the Pleasant Valley Cemetery near Hammondsport, NY.
